Tai Chi Forms &
Styles
|
|
We teach two styles of Taijiquan: the
Yang Style, and the Zhao Bao He Family (pronounced "Huh"
Family) Taijiquan. Each style is unique, and yet both conform
to the principles contained in the "Tai Chi
Classics."

The 24 Posture Simplified Form of
Tai Chi Chuan sometimes called the
"Beijing Form" for was created by the Chinese Sports Committee
in 1956. They brought together four tai chi teachers to create
a simplified form of tai chi as exercise for the masses. The
creators shortened the Yang Style Long Form to 24 postures.
The Short Form takes between four and eight minutes to perform
and gives the beginner an introduction to the essential
elements of tai chi chuan, yet retains the traditional flavor
of the Yang Style. This form was avidly promoted by the
Chinese government, and as a result, the 24 Form is most
likely the tai chi form with the most practitioners the world
over.
